Description:“The Light and Shadow of Asian Poetry” is an essay by Ye Di written for the 5th Conference of Asian Poets sponsored by Taiwan at Sun Moon Lake in 1995 and translated into English by Xu Daran. The writer used the Taiwan writers Lai He, Yang Hua, the Japanese writer Mitsuharu Kaneko, and the Korean writer Kim Chi-ha as examples to illustrate that since the 20th century, the characteristic of Asian poets has been to “oppose power, resist tyranny, and speak out for the weak.” In addition, he explains that the poetry of Indian poet Jayanta Mahapatra, Nepalese Dakpa K Tib and Philippine poet Dino Robbie Guevarra Yabut are prayers seeking “friendship” and “eternal peace.”

4.〈亞洲詩的光與影〉係葉笛為1995年由台灣主辦、於日月潭舉行的第5屆「亞洲詩人會議」所寫的論文,許達然將之譯成英文。文中作者以台灣賴和、楊華、日本金子光晴、韓國金芝河為例,說明二十世紀以來,亞洲詩人「反權力、抵抗壓制、為弱者發聲」的詩歌特質;並以印度瑪哈巴特拉、尼泊爾達巴.K.帝布、菲律賓迪諾的詩作闡釋詩人追求「友情」及「永遠的和平」之祈願。
